A day in the life of a Metal Worker at Omineca Fabricating will include applying your expertise in industrial construction and your deep knowledge of structural welding and fabrication processes to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standards. At Omineca, every employee contributes to creating a safe and respectful work environment.
Shift Details:
- Rotational work
- 2 - 3 weeks on

Job Description:
- Local candidates preferred. Out of area candidates may be considered.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and technical plans to layout, erect and weld structural steel.
- Follow all engineered plans, specifications, codes, standards and regulations.
- Ensure all work is completed to quality and safety standards.
- Contribute positively to the crew dynamic by maintaining respectful working relationships.
- Use trade math.
- Lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Work safely at heights.
- Work long hours in variable conditions and challenging environments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Duties
- Utilize state of the art metal forming and fusing processes to meet quality standards with minimal supervision.
- SMAW, GMAW, FCAW - Minimum 3 and 4G
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure proper layout and steel erection.
- Complete precise and accurate work in a timely manner.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following and implementing all Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
- Model and uphold the Company rules, policies, and performance expectations.
- Act as a brand ambassador and contribute to a positive corporate culture.
- Lay out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications.
- Rig, hoist and safely move large and complex loads.
- Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits.
- Install fabricated components in a final product.
- Work safely at heights, confined spaces, and in challenging environments.
- Complete all site specific safety and quality training as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Certified Welders, Ironworkers, or Metal Fabricators preferred.
- 3+ years experience in Industrial Construction.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, set up equipment and layout materials to maximize productivity.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a high-hazard environment.
- Strong work ethic and time management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to contribute positively to a skilled trades team.
- Understanding of due diligence and ability to complete detailed and accurate reports as required.
- Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot.
- The following additional training is considered an asset:
- Occupational First Aid
- Certification for Structural Steel and/or Aluminum welding processes
- Certification for Pipe and Pressure Welding
- OSHA-training
- Fall protection Training
- Equipment Operation (Forklift, Telehandler, etc.)
