Omineca Fabricating is a full-service fabrication shop and heavy industry contractor specializing in mill maintenance as well as capital project installations. The foundation of Omineca Fabricating is based on the highest caliber of safety, quality, and efficiency to retain our commitment to customer satisfaction.

We are currently recruiting a passionate and diligent Site Safety Representative to provide safety leadership and oversight on a large industrial construction project in Oregon. This position will work closely with Omineca’s Safety Supervisor and our Site Supervisors to ensure the organization is fulfilling its commitment to our customers and our employees by fostering a culture of safety at the worksite.

A day in the life of a Safety Representative at Omineca will include providing expert advise and oversight to ensure project and organizational compliance with all relevant federal, state, and worksite safety requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all documentation, investigations, and incident reporting on site.

Main Duties

  • Provide leadership in safety stewardship.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and ensure work is being performed in a safe manner.
  • Monitor site and crews to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Review and make recommendations to improve health and safety program.
  • Support field teams to achieve an incident and injury free workplace.
  • Oversee employee engagement and buy-in to the Health and Safety Program.
  • Direct and coordinate incident investigations, providing feedback to the Safety Supervisor and the Operations Manager.
  • Complete incident investigations and reporting requirements for regulating authorities.
  • Organize and participate in Safety meetings.
  • Participate in performance management as it pertains to employee safety and security.
  • Mentor and coaching employees at all levels of the organization about important Safety topics.
  • Perform other duties are required.

Qualifications

  • Authorization to work legally in the United States.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in the field of Health and Safety in an industrial environment.
  • OHSA 30 required.
  • Certificate or Degree in OHS or related field (OHST, CHTS, CSP, ARM, or STS certification preferred)
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and State Workers Compensation required.
  • Proficient with the use of computers and technology.
  • Ability to produce detailed and accurate reports.
  • Considerable experience working in an industrial environment (sawmill or wood manufacturing facility experience considered and asset).
  • Trades certificate or experience with welding/fitting/millwrighting considered an asset.
  • Unrestricted drivers license.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel and work long hours.
  • Good judgement and strong decision-making skills.
