Our Commitment to Safety

Addressing hazards in the workplace

At Omineca Industrial, we are committed to working as a team to proactively address hazards in the workplace. We believe that our Directors, Managers, Supervisors, Employees, and our Customers are all partners in creating a safe and respectful work environment. Safety is more than a responsibility; Safety is our priority.

We have developed a robust internal health and safety program that provides the framework guiding our organizational activities at every level. Omineca Industrial invests significantly in our safety department with the goal of providing our employees with an incident and injury free workplace. The following certifications and credentials attest to the effectiveness of our safety management system:

  • BC Construction Safety Association (BCCSA) Health and Safety Certificate of Recognition (COR)

  • CSA W47.2 Certification of Companies for fusion welding of aluminum structures
  • ISNetworld and Complyworks Registration
    • Used to evaluate, measure, and report on the state of compliance and performance across our organization.
  • Skilled Trades BC Registered Sponsor Employer
    • We provide our apprentices with the opportunity to work under the mentorship of certified tradespeople with a deep knowledge of industrial safety as they work towards their Red Seal in their chosen trade.

Omineca Industrial works to embed a culture of safety into every level of our organization. With rigorous safety protocols, regular training, and continuous improvement initiatives, we ensure our employees, customers, and the public are protected from potential hazards arising from our work. Our unwavering commitment to safety and our detailed health, safety, and environmental program means that our operations meet or exceed Occupational Health and Safety regulations across Canada and the United States.

Employee Safety

The Hazard Assessment process plays an integral role in ensuring the safety of our employees at work. Hazard Assessments are conducted at the beginning of a shift or job to control or eliminate any potential threats to the health and safety of our employees.

We take our commitment to our employees seriously and provide them with regular training and re-training on hazard identification and risk assessment. It is not enough for an employee to know they have the right to refuse unsafe work. Employees must first be able to recognize the ways in which their work is unsafe before they can control the hazards to complete their tasks in a safe and timely manner.

By focusing on prevention, Omineca Industrial avoids costly lost time incidents and protects all of its employees from harm.

Customer Safety

Omineca Industrial’s unwavering commitment to safety not only complies with industry regulations, but also fosters an environment of trust and confidence among stakeholders.

We commit to assembling new equipment and machinery at your site to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Specifications as our minimum acceptable standard. Our skilled tradespeople deliver a superior level of quality in their installations and repairs. The durability and longevity of our work means our customers experience fewer breakdowns and malfunctions and less maintenance overall. Ultimately, this contributes to a safer workplace by reducing the likelihood of injuries occurring due to malfunctioning equipment or during the hazardous repair process.

Environmental Safety

We respect the ethical obligation to protect the air, land, and watersheds of the communities we serve. Strict limits and controls are set on any activities that could be potentially polluting. Ensuring that our employees have knowledge of the safe handling and disposal requirements of the chemicals they use in the course of their duties, enables our crews to work without causing undue environmental harm.

At Omineca Industrial, we recognize that environmental safety increasingly means protecting our employees from the environment as much as it means protecting the environment from potentially impactful operations. To that end, we have developed health and safety procedures, which are reviewed regularly, addressing how we can perform our work safely in extreme heat, cold, smoke, and wildfire conditions.
