We are currently hiring a Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician) to join our field team based out of Prince George, BC.
A day in the life of a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Omineca includes working independently and as part of a team to diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment at our shop and in the field.
Job Description:
- Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy-duty equipment such as forklifts, chip trucks, trailers, and loaders.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Complete technical documentation.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Attach components and adjust new equipment.
- Weld and fabricate to repair or modify equipment as needed.
Job Requirements
- Red Seal Certification.
- 4th Year apprentices may be considered and are invited to apply.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safe environment.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic.
- Must have own hand tools up to 1 ¼”.
